Skiing Silver Star Resort as a family was an incredible experience that we will never forget. This charming resort located in the Okanagan region of British Columbia is known for its beautiful scenery, mild winters, and world-class skiing. During our stay at Silver Star Ski Resort, we enjoyed the cozy and laid-back atmosphere of this smaller ski destination. The resort features a charming, European-style village at the base of the mountain, which includes a variety of shops, restaurants, and accommodations. Our family stayed at the Snowbird Lodge, where we were treated to a comfortable and well-appointed condo with a fireplace and a stunning view of the mountain ranges. We truly felt at home in our cozy accommodations, which added to the overall enjoyment of our stay at Silver Star.
The Skiing
One thing we loved about Silver Star is that it’s a perfect resort for families of all ages and skill levels. The resort has over 3,200 skiable acres and 132 runs, ranging from beginner to expert. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there is something for everyone. The resort also has several terrain parks for freestyle skiers and snowboarders.

The instructors are patient and experienced, and they make sure that you feel comfortable and confident on the slopes. It was a great way to take a break from skiing and enjoy some family fun time. We had a great time tubing and mini-sledding at Silver Star Resort. The dedicated tubing hill was a hit with our kids, and we loved racing each other down the hill. For a faster-paced activity, try snowmobiling. The resort offers guided tours that take you through the surrounding wilderness, with stunning views of the mountains. Eating and Staying at Silver Star Resort
After a long day on the slopes or participating in winter activities, there is nothing better than a hearty meal. Silver Star Resort has a variety of restaurants in the village that serve delicious food. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, burgers, or something more upscale, there is something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed our dinner at Long John’s Pub, which had a cozy atmosphere and delicious comfort food.
During our stay at Silver Star Resort, we had the opportunity to try out some fantastic restaurants. The Bugaboos Bakery Cafe was a favorite for breakfast, with delicious pastries, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches. We also enjoyed lunch at Paradise Camp, which is located on the mountain and has a stunning view of the surrounding area.
The Terrian Park
One of the highlights of our trip was the terrain park at Silver Star. It’s a freestyle skier and snowboarder’s paradise, with a variety of jumps, rails, and boxes to try out. Our kids were thrilled to spend hours in the park, practicing their tricks and jump. The park is well-maintained and has a dedicated team of park groomers who ensure that the features are always in top condition. It was a great experience for our family and we can’t wait to come back and try out the park again.

Things to do in Vernon
Rock Climbing
On our way to Silver Star, we made an exciting pit stop –The rock Garden climbing center! An indoor rock climbing gym that provides adventure-loving families like ours with a safe and fun experience. With routes suitable for all ages and skill levels, this was the perfect outing for the kids and us.
The staff at Climb the Garden were incredibly helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for a successful session. Our kids impressed us with their agility as they scaled their way to the top of each route. We felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment by the end of our session. Rock climbing is such an amazing sport, and we can’t wait to do it again. It was an incredible experience that we won’t forget anytime soon. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying even more challenging climbs together!
Okanagan Science Centre
We also visited the Okanagan Science Centre – an interactive and immersive museum that offers exciting learning experiences for families like ours. The Science Centre had a great selection of exhibits and activities; informative, entertaining, and designed to captivate all ages! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us through the exhibits and answering any questions we had. Our kids were enthralled by the interactive displays, experiments, demonstrations, and more – it was incredible to watch them learn and explore!
We had an amazing time at the Okanagan Science Centre, leaving us feeling more knowledgeable and curious about the world around us. We can’t wait to go back soon – taking on even more complex experiments together!
