Had an amazing outcome after a few tough starts this week with our almost 3 year old. We realized he was a bit scared once we moved from the backyard to the bunny hill, and I was too far away from him. Once I moved closer, I was able to keep backing up as he skied to me. The session ended with tons of giggles, singing his favorite tv show theme song Firebuds, and ended with “this is so fun!” Which made mom and dad super proud and smiling ear to ear.

Thanks for the tips. Worth every penny of the $47 purchase so far. So excited to share our love of skiing with our sons.

The playbook was very helpful! We had a quick daddy-daughter ski trip with my 2.5 year old and my friend’s 3 year old daughter.

We followed your advice and kept it very short and sweet. Lot’s of indoor practice with the gear, etc. too.
Our biggest challenge was the temperature. It was super cold the weekend we went (with windchill, -20 celsius).
Not living near the mountains, we are pretty limited in being able to consistently reinforce the skills with the girls, but we think they didn’t form any negative opinions of skiing! We will keep at it!

I’ve been following @thatmountainlife since Adia’s videos went viral in the Spring of 2021. At the time I had an almost 2 year old and was hoping to find second hand skis & boots for her. Erich’s youtube and instagram videos were not only inspirational and motivational as a new parent, but also extremely informative in learning how he approaches teaching little ones to ski.

More recently I bought his Playbook, and this is the first season we’ll be able to get up to the mountains with more frequency, so I’ve been testing out some of his techniques. Above all I try to keep in mind this quote, “You have to remember that you aren’t teaching them how to ski, you’re showing them they can have fun on skis.
