The Best Ski Mitts For Kids

    Best Mitts For Toodlers

The first thing you need to know about mitts is this: when you’re playing in the snow your mitts will get wet. Try as mitt makers may with waterproof layers and coatings, the water always gets in eventually. So when your kids are on day-long romps in the snow, skiing or attending forest school, for the driest hands it’s best to have a backup pair.

When looking for the comfiest hands, the warmth of a mitten can’t be beaten. Mitts make for the best defence against cold fingers. That’s right, in the great glove or mitten debate my family is #teammittens.

For good mitts, you want to ensure that they’re warm, durable, and waterproof. The warmest mitts have long cuffs with sinches to keep out snow and wind. Leather palms and fingertips add significant durability in case your kids are out climbing trees when they’re not at the ski hill. Mitts with plastic waterproof membranes have a little extra protection from the wetness of spending hours in the snow.

So here is a list of my picks for some of the best kids’ mitts on the market right now.

    STONZ KID MITTS

The Stonz children’s mitts are the best choice for cold, winter days. These top-quality warm mitts are the best mitts you can find. The waterproof liner ensures your little one’s hands stay dry. While the thick 3M insulation and extra-long insulated cuffs keep them warm and cozy.

I chose these mitts for my kids because of the ultra-durable 600D nylon outer layer. Not only do they keep their hands incredibly warm, but they are also completely waterproof and built to last.

The primary downside of these mitts is that they are so warm that your child’s hands will become clumsy. However, though pricier than some other options, the cost can easily be justified by the level of warmth and protection they provide.

Helly Hansen Bergen Fleecee PU Mitts

The Helly Hansen Bergen Fleece PU mitts made the list because while they aren’t as warm as the Stonz mitts, they are the most waterproof mitts. The extra-long cuffs with their warm fleece lining make them a fantastic mitt for warmer, wetter days.

These guys are made out of polyurethane, or the same stuff as those classic yellow raincoats.  This means they’re tough and have unbeatable waterproofness. Which guarantees drier hands for more playtime in the snow. Perfect mittens for fall and spring.

Hot Paws Kids’ Winter Mittens With Long Cuffs.

Hot paws are a classic Canadian budget brand. I remember everyone had hot paws when I was growing up. The Hot Paws Kids’ Winter mitts while super warm, but do make the sacrifice of not having a waterproof membrane. They have do a water-resistant outer fabric that can be re-treated to restore repellency.

They will soak through faster than the other mitts on this list, but their price makes it very easy to have a second dry pair ready for when that happens. Even if you’re inclined to get a more expensive primary mitt, these make a great backup.

    KOMBI Animal Family Mittens

These Kombi ski mittens have everything you need in a mitt. Thick insulation, long warm cuffs, a high-quality waterproof layer, and a good price.

The thing that really sets these mitts apart from the rest of the pack is their cute animal puppet patterns. Kombi has ten different animals to choose from. A perfect way to help keep skiing fun and keep their hands warm too.

    Best Mitts For Kids

Helly Hansen Juniors’ HH Mittens 2.0

These Helly Hansen Jr 2.0 mitts are top-notch. They’re super warm, they’ve got an excellent waterproof layer, and the best part is that the palm is made of thick polyurethane. The construction is bombproof.

These mitts are going to last far beyond the time that your kid outgrows them. These are the mitts that both Luca and August use and they both love them. Check them out ripping up the slopes in them.

    Hot Paws Boys’ Striped Mittens

These mitts are another super cheap option from Hot Paws. They’re super warm, the cuffs have a sinch to keep wrists warm and snow out. They’re water resistant, not waterproof. The price makes it very easy to have two pairs, and they make an excellent cheap backup pair.

These mitts come in four gender-neutral colours but watch out – the “girls” version of this mitt has a shorter snowproof cuff! They are not the best but they’re warm and an excellent bang for your buck.

    KOMBI Everyday Jr Mittens

These Kombi mitts are a great option at their price point.

These kids mitts have it all: long cuffs to keep the snow out, sinches in precisely the right places, a waterproof layer (even if not top-notch), and enough warmth for your outdoor adventures. Plus, you can count on their sturdy fabric and reasonable price! You can’t go wrong with these simple but quality mitts.

    Aroma Season Heated Mitts

The Aroma Season Heated Mitts are the most expensive mitts on this list. For good reason, they’re the only heated children’s mitts on the market right now. The rechargeable batteries last up to five hours. They’ve got lots of insulation, a high-quality waterproof layer, and durable construction.

They aren’t from any big brand you know about but the reviews are in, if you struggle to keep your kids’ hands warm you need to check these out. Kids can have bad circulation too and if you need them, you need them.
