Beach Break Surf Camp: Learn to Surf in Playa Venoe Panama

    Why Surf In Panama

Surfing in Panama or learning to surf in Panama is a great way to experience the beauty of Central America while enjoying some fun in the sun. With its warm waters and uncrowded beaches, Panama is an ideal destination for families who want to learn how to surf together. From the swells of Santa Catalina beach to the rolling waves of Playa Venao, there are plenty of opportunities to get out on your board and start enjoying the ride.

Read on to discover what makes Panama a great destination for learning to surf and why our family chose Beach Break in Playa Venao as our surf school.

    Why we chose Panama

We decided to take our family vacation in Panama because of its amazing surf spots. The country is full of beautiful beaches, with many options for beginner-friendly breaks and highly reviewed surf camps. Beach Break Surf Camp checked all the boxes – great location, comfy accommodations, affordable for a family of five, expert instructors, plus they offered yoga and jujitsu to mix things up when off the water.

Beach Break – The Best Family Surf Camp

Beach Break Surf Camp is the perfect destination for people of all ages who want to learn how to surf! Located in Playa Venao, Panama’s premier surfing destination, Beach Break Surf Camp offers a variety of surf lessons that cater to every skill level, from beginners looking to ride their first wave to experienced riders up for a challenge. Whether you’re interested in stand-up or body boarding, their experienced instructors will provide the guidance and support you need for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Not only will you receive specialized instruction during your camp experience, but you’ll also get to relax, swim, meet other like-minded people and families and so much more. At Beach Break, you also have unlimited access to their beachfront fitness center, which offers a full calendar of fitness, yoga, and martial arts classes (including for kids!).

Plus the biodiverse Playa Venao region offers many activities that complement your family’s surf vacation such as whale watching, deep sea fishing, zip-lining through the jungle,  waterfall hikes and more. We really enjoyed our daily beach walks, waterfall hikes and jujitsu lessons!

With their all-inclusive packages, it makes planning this big adventure super easy. From start to finish, you are in good hands. We loved our spacious family room, delicious (and vegan friendly ) meals, surf lessons, and the family-friendly atmosphere at Beach Break.

How the camp instructors helped our kids learn to surf

Learning to surf can be fun and rewarding, but it also has its challenges. Hiring a professional instructor can make the difference between an enjoyable day out in the water and a frustrating one; you’ll be able to progress slowly and properly, knowing that someone is watching out for your safety.

Courtney and I were both really impressed at the patience and progression used to teach our kids to surf. It’s clear that Beach Breaks instructors have a wide range of skills as well as clearly enjoy teaching people of all ages to surf. They gave us all a thorough safety briefing, reviewed the board, taught our kids to read the waves and wind, as well as ensured they began learning the etiquette of surfing.

With their help, you’ll learn how to read the weather, the waves and know when it’s time to hit the beach. You’ll also practise correct paddling techniques, learn about ocean safety, and build confidence to stand on your board. Whatever your skill level may be, we guarantee that when you leave, you’ll have made lasting memories and gained confidence in surfing waves like never before. Our family sure did!

We stayed at beach break surf camp for 6 nights and enjoyed 5 full days of surf instruction and access to rental boards. Our kids loved their time with the instructors, other kids, playing in the sand and learning all about “that beach life”.
